Welcome back to The Communication Connection. We bring you the latest news about language access, emergency communication, and public safety technology. Each month, we share updates and insights to help you stay informed.
This June, we focus on how new technology helps 9-1-1 call takers and first responders do their jobs better. Here's what's new.
🚀 New Features: Major Product Updates
ConveyConnect Plus: The Next Step in Cross-Language Communication
ConveyConnect Plus combines traditional over-the-phone interpretation with an interactive visual on screen user-interface. This creates a solution that gives first responders both AI-powered and human interpreter options.
Key improvements include:
- Real-time English transcription providing transparency and accuracy of what is being said during the non-English portion of the conversation
- Access to our expanded pool of over 40,000 qualified interpreters (this is a 2-3x increase in capacity)
- AI-powered interpretation assistant with type-to-talk technology allowing the agent to type in English while non-English speakers hear it in their native language
- On-demand human interpreters available at the touch of a button
- Full transparency across 65+ languages with real-time transcription and translation
ConveyCommunicator Premium: Enhanced Intelligence for Emergency Response
Our enhanced language model now isolates key details from live calls to enable workflow automation. This includes the ability to integrate with real-time crime centers when incidents are happening.
Our system now supports 65+ spoken languages while providing AI-powered summarization that reduces talk time and improves response efficiency.
Introducing ConveyAlert: Mass Messaging Solution
We are pleased to announce ConveyAlert, our mass messaging solution that sends messages in multiple languages at large scale. This platform helps emergency management agencies send critical alerts in up to 185 languages at speeds of 800 text messages per second.
ConveyAlert is already protecting communities with uses like flood warnings, severe weather alerts, and water safety notices. The State of Maryland has put ConveyAlert in place statewide. Residents can sign up by texting MD Ready to 211631 or visiting beready.md.gov/alerts.
📊 Industry Data: The Scale of Language Barriers in Emergency Services
Our May 2025 performance data shows the true scope of language barriers facing first responders and emergency services nationwide:
- 4,065 emergency calls dialed in ConveyConnect language interpretation services across our client base last month
- 489+ hours of live interpretation were provided, representing critical communication that might otherwise have been delayed or misunderstood
- 35 different languages were actively used, showing the linguistic diversity of the communities our first responders serve
- Over 2x growth in ConveyConnect usage has occurred within the last 30 days alone
To put this in perspective, without advanced communication technology, these same calls would still occur but with much longer response times. For example, one of our clients reduced their monthly interpretation time by approximately 25-30% after implementing Convey911's enhanced efficiency features, while handling the same volume of calls.
Thanks to Convey911’s enhanced efficiency, their monthly usage dropped from an average of 24,000 minutes to just 18,000 minutes in May; while maintaining the same call volume.
This improvement reflects faster interpreter connections, more qualified professionals, and an overall better experience for both first responders and the communities they serve.
The data shows a critical truth: language barriers in emergency response are not occasional challenges; they are daily realities that require systematic, technology-driven solutions to ensure every community member receives timely, effective emergency assistance.
💬 Client Success Story: Partnership Drives Performance Excellence
When a major metropolitan county flipped the go-live switch at 8am on the first Monday of May, they immediately began processing emergency calls requiring language services at unprecedented scale. Since implementation, they have processed approximately 20,000 minutes of interpretation services—demonstrating the robust capacity our platform provides for high-volume emergency operations.
As anyone might expect with this type of volume during initial deployment, there was potential for operational challenges. However, the county experienced fewer than 5-10 issues total, each of which was resolved professionally and quickly through our responsive customer support.
This implementation showcases three critical advantages of the Convey911 platform:
- Immediate scalability - The system handled substantial call volume from day one without performance degradation
- Operational reliability - Less than 0.05% issue rate even during high-volume initial deployment
- Rapid resolution - When issues did arise, our team provided swift, professional support to maintain service continuity
Convey911 services over 45,000 minutes per month across 15 states, with many agencies seeing similar outcomes; processing hundreds of interpretation calls monthly while maintaining the reliability emergency services require.
The success of these implementations reflects our platform's ability to deliver consistent, high-quality language services at the scale and reliability that emergency communications demand.
When seconds matter, our technology ensures that language barriers don't delay critical emergency response.
Your Questions Answered
Q: What is the most common technical challenge first responders face with ConveyConnect?
A: The primary technical issue is not with the platform itself, but with initial account setup. Q: How has Convey911 improved its customer support approach?
A: We have recently added Geo to our Customer Success team to provide dedicated support for our clients. This ensures every customer has a direct point of contact who understands their specific implementation and can quickly address any issues or questions that arise.
We've also added a 24x7 NOC support phone number to provide support around the clock. This proactive approach helps us maintain the high service levels our first responders depend on.
Q: What is the difference between traditional interpretation services and ConveyConnect Plus?
A: ConveyConnect Plus combines the best of both worlds, AI-powered translation and interpretation for immediate communication, with instant access to our pool of over 40,000 human interpreters when needed. Users can communicate via voice or keyboard while maintaining full transparency in 65+ languages, then seamlessly connect to a human interpreter with the touch of a button.
